New BETA Released

Since I won't have much time over the coming months to complete my new project, I've decided to release her in BETA format. I'll be shipping out for a long trip in the next couple of months and may have some time to work on her during the trip. Look for project 076 in the completed projects section.

New Ship on the Slipway

This weekend I've started a new project for a recent visitor to my site. He's from Kuwait and asked me to build him a boat from the KUWAIT NAVAL FORCE. The project has been pretty easy so far. The vessels are similar in size and layout as the RAN's Fremantle Class Patrol Boats. I estimate that the boat will take approx another 2 weeks to complete.

Phase 1 = General Design (Hull/Superstructure)

Phase 2 = Weapons

Phase 3 = Upper Deck Details

Phase 4 = Fine Details and Texturing

Phase 5 = Fine Tuning and Performance.

Phases 1 and 2 are now complete with Phase 3 well under way. Here are some images of the progress so far.

HMAS ANZAC FFH 150

I first started the ANZAC Project in January 2004, one of my early early projects. I have since 4 others versions of this class not including this most recent one. As you can see, I have finally gotten it right and I can put the class to bed and hopefully never touch it again, unless there are major modifications done to the "Real" ships. In the image below you can see the difference in my models and subsequent modelling technique.

I have had a great deal of success with this latest model, probably because I'm actually posted to the Real HMAS ANZAC and I can get first hand experience in the fine details and add them with no problems. I can also take photo's of the ship close up and use them as photorealistic textures.

I've started a new boat, USS Sea Fighter FSF-1. She's about 50 percent done at the moment, I'm just waiting to get motivated again to get back into it. I hope to have her finished within the next couple of weeks.

Bloody Computers and Poor Power Supply

Today I woke up only to find that my main computer (With all the good bits in it) was shut down and would not turn on. I did some investigating and found that it was the PC's power supply that had burnt out (Again!). This is the second time in about a month that the power supply to the house had caused a spike and frizzled my PC's power supply. I did a little more investigating and discovered that it wasn't only the power supply, it was the Video Card aswell. So $180 later I had a new power supply installed and a brand new video card installed. Tomorrow I think I'll go and buy a decent power surge guard, so I won't have to do the same next month.

Today has been a miserable day, I have been down in the dumps for most of it, the main reason is that it would have been my Brother's 33rd Birthday today. He passed away in 2001. Justin, if you're out there, happy birthday mate we're all thinking of you. I'll have a cold beer for you tonight.
